What software should I learn for 3D animation?

Currently, the most popular 3D software packages in the industry are 3DS Max and Maya. The programs are similar in their technical capabilities, and the difference in their final output stem from designer talent, not from the software. How much will the software cost? Can I get discounts as a 3DTI student?

What are the computer requirements for 3D animation?

The faster the computer, the better. Below you will find the minimum recommended requirements for running 3DS Max or MAYA on your computer system.

How does the online training work?
The classes are held live online by instructors from New York and California mostly during week-ends and include self paced learning materials accessible to students during the week. This format enables working professionals and students taking other courses to attend from wherever they have access to a computer, software and high-speed internet. The level of interaction offered by our online program has many advantages over traditional class-room settings which you can experience by attending one of our free on-line demo classes.

When are the classes conducted?
This program is generally conducted on Saturdays, and occasional week-nights. The total course duration is 12 weeks for intermediate level users and 16 weeks for beginners. Students are provided with 2 hours of self paced learning materials and 4 hours of live instructor led session each week. Students are also required to dedicate at least 4 more hours to work on their home work assignments, thus spending in total, a minimum of 10 hours per week, to participate in the course effectively. New classes start every month and we recommend advance registrations if you are interested in securing your start date for a particular month.

What are the course fees?
The tuition fees for our programs range from $ 950 to $ 3700 and we provide student loans through Sallie Mae and interest-free installment payment plans to help you finance the program with affordable monthly payments. What kind of support I can expect after I complete the program?

We believe that our success is based on the success of our students. After successful completion of the 3D project based course and demo reel, students are offered a one year free membership program which provides additional learning support, guidance to improve their demo reel, and assistance in finding work. Successful graduates from 3DTi also have the option to set up their own home-based studios and work on client projects in collaboration with our production and consulting divisions.

How much time should I expect to practice outside of class?

We recommend that students spend a minimum of 4 hours per week, but the more time you can spend on practicing the better for you. Remember the old adage, "Practice makes perfect."

What are the eligibility requirements?

You must be at least 18 years of age and have completed high school or higher education (proof required) in order to participate in any of our programs. To join our 12-week 3D Project Based Course, prior experience with 3DS Max or Maya software is required and eligibility will be based on samples of past work. How do I sign up?

If you are eligible and interested in joining our programs, the first step is to fill out our course inquiry form and sign-up to attend our one-hour free on-line demo class, to decide if our programs are right for you. If you are a beginner and apprehensive about learning 3D animation, we recommend that can participate in our two-hour on-line intro class, before joining any of our programs. The cost of the intro class is $ 50 and provides a hands-on experience of working with the software.
